A generous, homely house on the shores of Lake Windermere!
The quieter Western side of the lake is an idyll of beauty and peace, and Fair Rigg is perfectly appointed for a memorable stay with Lakelovers. Spacious and designed for relaxation, this superb Lakeland residence is matched by the openness, tranquility, and beauty of the lakeshore location.
Take a short stroll down to the lakeshore and watch the waves lap against Windermere's well-loved banks, and you will instinctively know you made the right call in choosing this property. With the cross-lake ferry nearby, you can easily make a leisurely outing to Bowness for shopping, dining, and the many attractions of that bustling Lakeland town, and the pretty village of Hawkshead is only a short run away, too. You are so well placed here to enjoy the central and southern Lakes.
Beatrix Potter's home of Hilltop is close to Fair Rigg, and the delightfully green countryside is dotted with little hamlets and country pubs, such as the Cuckoo Brow Inn at Far Sawrey and the Tower Bank Arms at Near Sawrey. The watercolour beauty of Esthwaite Water will enchant you, as it did Miss Potter, as will the picture perfect fell-scapes that are all about you.
Although the views are perfect from your windows, you will want to make your way uphill to appreciate the wonders of the surrounding landscape, and adjacent Claife Heights offers some great walking routes. You are a short car journey away from the magnificent Coniston Fells and also the walking and biking trails of Grisdale Forest.
There are few homes of this size and quality available in such a perfect position.
A restful night is assured in the bespoke bedroom suites, and that winning combination of luxury and homeliness runs throughout Fair Rigg. Excellent and elegant living spaces accommodate your large party with ease, and the characterful aga and open fire complete your Lakeland experience. You will leave refreshed, with lifelong memories, and a strong desire to return!
