Accommodation in detail
The front door of Huckleberry House opens to the hallway that links the principal living rooms; the sitting room, dining room, the kitchen and also benefits from a cloakroom WC. The panelled, dual aspect, sitting room is bright and airy with large windows and high ceilings. Relax in the comfortable sofas and armchairs arranged around the coffee tables, two cosy electric log burning stove and TV. A door from here leads to the garden and patio. The dining room is presented with a large family dining table big enough for everyone to gather for celebration dinners or extended family gatherings. The kitchen is presented with due consideration to the size of the property with plenty of cupboard space, a large kitchen inventory, a fridge/freezer, second fridge, three electric ovens, a gas hob and microwave.
Stairs from the hallway lead to the four bedrooms on the first floor; the first is presented with a superking bed or twin beds and an ensuite bathroom room, the second is presented with a superking or twin beds (and the option of an additional single bed if required) and a large ensuite bathroom with feature bath and walk in shower. The third and fourth bedroom are both presented as king rooms and both benefit from ensuite shower rooms.
A further flight of stairs leads to the second floor and the two remaining bedrooms where you have a choice of a smart king size rooms with feature beams, lovely views and ensuite shower room and the final bedroom a king benefits from an ensuite bathroom room with overhead shower. Each bedroom has its own TV and in addition to the facilities mentioned above all the ensuites include a toilet and basin. To the side of the house there is a large lawned garden with mature shrubs and trees along with a patio with outdoor garden furniture.
A laundry room with washing machine and tumble dryer is shared with the neighbouring property as is the electric car charging point. Private parking is available for five cars.
The southern end of Lake Windermere is renowned for its peaceful atmosphere, being much quieter than the busier Lake District holiday destinations further up the lake. However, you're very close to the hamlet of Lakeside and Lakeside Pier, where the famous Lake Windermere steamers depart regularly to Bowness and Ambleside - a wonderful way to explore these areas without driving.
There are some lovely walks in the area, such as Wainwright's Finsthwaite Heights route from Newby Bridge. The route approaches High Dam - a picturesque tarn that you might just have to yourselves on quieter days. You'll also find several Lake District family attractions within easy reach. Also at Lakeside is the Lakes Aquarium - a fresh water aquarium displaying local wildlife. The Lakeside & Haverthwaite Railway offers an opportunity to take a short trip on a restored traditional steam train.
Lake District historic sites such as Holker Hall and Gardens, Cartmel Priory, Stott Park Bobbin Mill, Sizergh Castle and Levens Hall are all within easy reach by car, with no need to navigate through busy tourist areas.

Offering stunning views of the South Lakeland District fells and countryside, Cartmel has grown up around its famous 12th Century medieval Priory Church. It is a special place where ancient history and tradition mingle effortlessly with the present day.
Although steeped in history, Cartmel is not trapped in time and the village offers today's visitors many modern surprises in the form of fine quality attractions, shops, a wide variety of traditional Lakeland inns and cutting edge gourmet restaurants including the internationally acclaimed Michelin Star restaurant, L'Enclume. Around the village square you will discover a delightful assortment of genuine 16th - 18th century buildings.
All this and the famous Cartmel racecourse providing national hunt racing in its most original format is just off the centre of the village square. With its party crowds and funfair, Cartmel rekindles the social gathering tradition of the original steeple to steeple chases.
