Accommodation in detail:
We should point out that to gain a view such as this, one has to climb and this luxury property is approached via a private yet steep driveway leading up Loughrigg Fell, so sometimes winter conditions may mean leaving you vehicle a few hundred yards at the base of the driveway and using sturdy boots to ensure you can come and go! Once you have ascended the driveway and parked, wander through a gate into your garden and down external steps to the wrap around slate terrace and oak entrance door. You will find a Large warm slate floored entrance hall with lots of space for walking clobber and the like. Walk into the open plan living space and catch your breath – walls of glass reveal the amazing view and bi-folding doors will open to bring the outside in. Then you will be drawn to the garden and terrace – bliss!
Sumptuous relaxing furnishings are set on heated oak flooring. The open plan kitchen is integrated into the living space and has all you may need; then a couple of steps up to the dressing area, a luxurious raindrop shower room and romantic bedroom - always admiring the wall to ceiling views.
It's hard to describe the magic of this location; perched on the lower slopes of Loughrigg Fell close to the banks of the River Rothay and nestled in breath-taking landscapes between Ambleside and Rydal Water. Even when explored by car, this area is one of the Lake District's most beautiful with Lake Windermere almost on your doorstep... and from your infinity bolthole you'll enjoy panoramic views throughout your stay.
The nearest village is Ambleside, on the northern shores of Lake Windermere; a lovely short walk down the bridleway and across the park. Ambleside has long been one of the Lake District's most popular destinations; a pretty historic village that has grown to become one of the most sophisticated holiday communities in the Lake District.
The location is ideal for enjoying this fabulous village without being immersed in crowds. Superb shopping, excellent restaurants and fine local pubs share the streets with traditional Lakeland cottages and fascinating historic buildings. There is an abundance of longer walks into the fells from the village. Just outside Ambleside village centre, Windermere Lake Cruises depart from the pier providing your car-free route to explore Bowness and Lakeside.
Directly from Brow Head you can take the trail to the summit of Loughrigg where you will have wonderful views over Grasmere, and the Western lakes and fells; or take a different direction for an equally stunning view of Windermere lake, or past serene Rydal Water and into the historic village of Grasmere, famed as a hub for walkers and outdoor enthusiasts but also home to such attractions as Dove Cottage - former home of the famous poet William Wordsworth.
As well as an abundance of walking and mountain-biking paths to enjoy from your door, you'll find acclaimed Lake District country pubs aplenty in the surrounding area. The perfect way to refuel after a day on the fells - if you can tear yourself away from that view!
