Escape to the country at Lacet Cottage! A detached, historic property nestled in private gardens, and built of authentic local stone, this rustic residence has been lovingly upgraded to the high standards our Lakelovers expect. Two old-world farm cottages are rolled into one here, meaning you have space to spread out comfortably to enjoy the traditional charms of rural life.
Deep in the gorgeous farming countryside of the North East Lakes, Lacet Cottage is regularly visited by local wildlife, and sometimes you'll even get to see squirrels capering outside your windows. The little hamlet of Hutton John by Watermillock near Ullswater, often considered the most beautiful of our regions waters, is host to this superbly renovated property, offering real luxury for a small party of four. With wonderful walks and exceptional views all around, this is Lakelovers Gold indeed!
The welcome log-burner in the lounge will get your party nice and toasty on those crisp autumnal evenings, and the separate 'snug' is a lovely bonus. The kitchen-diner, with lovely solid wood dining set and slate-flooring, makes an appealing space to dine together. If the sun is out, you might well want to open the door to the patio and take your meal outside onto the provided bistro set. Beyond this, an orchard-style garden is perfect for playing with your children, either human or canine! Lacet Cottage allows you to bring a dog with you, and this area is certainly great for walkies!
The green farming country about Hutton John is crossed by countless blissfully tranquil footpaths, while a short run to Ullswater really opens up some of the best walking in the Lakes. Aira Force is a stunning waterfall surrounded by woodland tracks, while the view from atop Hallin Fell on the far shore is simply sublime. You can take the boat from Pooley Bridge to Howtown for a pint at one of the quaintest country pubs imaginable, and explore remotest Martindale for true old lakeland experience. And while there you can always choose to eat at the celebrated Sharrow Bay Michelin-starred restaurant- as long as you can get a reservation, that is!
As you are conveniently close to the A66, you can easily shoot off to Penrith, perhaps stocking up with gourmet local produce at Cranston's Cumbrian Food Hall, or to Keswick, where you can take in a play at the Theatre By The Lake, peruse the twice-weekly traditional market, play a round on the excellent pitch and putt course by Derwentwater, or take a cruise on the Keswick Launch on that serene stretch of water, passing the undulating ridge of beautiful Cat Bells, another great fell walk to fit in!
Those looking for luxury cottages near Ullswater will certainly find an exceptional property in Lacet Cottage.
