A characterful retreat in the heart of Old Ambleside!
Situated in the village's conservation area, Lettera boasts outstanding views and stylish accommodation. Cosy and traditional, this is a romantic, rustic property that we know will appeal to all true Lakelovers.
Lettera basks in an elevated position on the slopes of 'The Struggle', the little road winding up onto the Kirkstone Pass and over to beautiful Ullswater. It is in the older area of Ambleside, notable for its well preserved slate-built cottages and houses. The views here are very special and you will just love opening the bedroom curtains in the mornings!
Accomodation in detail
Entrance: Enter the property straight into the stylish open-plan ground-floor living space.
Living-area: Slate flooring, sumptuous furnishings, a Smart TV, and a characterful wood-burning stove. The living-area is open to the sophisticated kitchen, finished in granite, and the dining-area.
Staircase to first-floor.
Bedroom 1: A lovely king-size bedroom with its very own luxury bathroom with bath and shower-over facility.
Stairs lead to the top-floor suite.
Bedroom 2: A double bedroom with dressing room / reception area and en-suite monsoon shower-room.
Outside: There is a strategically placed bench right by the door and a small pretty garden with furniture. There is one parking space directly opposite the front door to the cottage.
Unfortunately the owners do not consider this property to be suitable for children under 11 years old.
The central location gives excellent access to the village, but the elevation gives a pleasing sense of being tucked away. The sitting room incorporates a truly fantastic original stone-built fireplace, and the wood-burner here will keep you warm on chillier nights. Everything here is well-appointed and well-equipped. The luxurious bathrooms and sumptuous bedrooms complement the wonderful open-plan living space perfectly.
Walks naturally abound right from your doorstep. You are on the lower slopes of the famous Fairfield Horseshoe, while shorter strolls to Stockghyll Waterfalls and High Sweden Bridge are in within easy reach. You will certainly want to cruise on both Windermere and Ullswater aboard one of the historic steamers, too.
Ambleside is full of life and great restaurants, and you can spend a delightful evening at Zeffirellis Restaurant and Jazz Bar, perhaps combining this with a visit to the adjacent cinema. But few pleasures beat just sitting outside Lettera and watching the changing skies over Loughrigg Fell. This is a place to fully indulge and unwind with special people!
