‘LOVEDAY’ is the perfect self-catering cottage for couples, lovingly restored in a ‘modern rustic’ style. Using traditional, eco-friendly methods, reclaimed materials and retaining many of the original features, it’s the high standard of finish and attention to detail that makes this romantic 17th Century Lakeland cottage so utterly unique.
From the moment you push open the original cottage door, you’ll feel instantly at home as you explore this cosy and inviting space with its heated original flagstone floor, low beamed ceiling and ancient timbers. Exuding rustic charm, the cottage features an open plan kitchen/living room with a cosy log burner, bespoke wooden bathroom, huge master bedroom open to the eaves and a utility/boot room.
With lakeshore or woodland and fell walks from the door, ‘Loveday’ is just a 5 minute stroll from the southern shores of beautiful Lake Windermere where you can sail, kayak or wild swim. Picturesque Cartmel village is a 10 minute drive away where you can treat yourself at the fabulous 2 Michelin star restaurant L’Enclume or indulge in Cartmel’s famous sticky toffee pudding. Alternatively, marvel at the acoustics in the 16th Century Cartmel Priory, or have a flutter at Cartmel Races.
Whatever your passion, ‘Loveday’ is the perfect bolthole, offering an escape from the everyday. Hunker down beside the log burner, curl up with a good book and a glass of wine, forget the world outside – kick back and relax.
Approached from a lane that winds its way through the hamlet of Staveley-in-Cartmel, you may park right outside your cottage beside the old barn.
The open plan living area, with underfloor heating, is full of character with beams and pretty sash windows with ash window seats and cabin wood shutters. A Harris Tweed sofa and antique Windsor chairs surround the cosy log burner. This all blends seamlessly with the well-equipped handmade kitchen containing an electric double oven and induction hob, fridge/ freezer, microwave, dishwasher and an island where you can have that romantic dinner for two or plan the day’s events.
On the ground floor, the bathroom has a bespoke wooden bath tub and twin oak basins, walk-in shower and vintage WC. The heated smooth river pebble floor offers a natural foot massage.
The bespoke wooden staircase with a birch and willow balustrade leads to the spacious master bedroom which has beautiful whitewashed original wooden floorboards, oak beams and a vaulted ceiling. Relax with your morning cup of tea in the rope chairs, whilst looking out the pretty cottage windows, which frame views to the surrounding countryside.
Step out from the utility room to a patio area with garden furniture and up a few steps where there is a lawned garden, which allows guests to enjoy alfresco dinning on a summer evening.
Parking is available to the side of the property for one car, with an electric vehicle charging point. Up to two well behaved dogs are welcome with dog blankets, towels and treats provided.
