A homely hall in the heart of the Lakes! Just a stone’s throw to the south of the pretty village of Hawkshead and close to the shores of stunning Lake Windermere, this rather magnificent 16th Century Lakeland country house is set in four acres of charming garden grounds. A very special place to share with very special people, anyone desiring luxury accommodation in the Lake District for a large party has certainly stuck Lakelovers gold with Low Graythwaite Hall!
A tasteful combination of rustic period influence and contemporary stylings throughout produce a genuinely unique property surrounded by wooded hills, green grazing pastures and little lanes in the this pretty patch of Lakeland. Two main reception rooms are a big advantage, meaning your party can come together or divide into smaller groups as the mood strikes, ideal if you've got a number of children with you! A feature stone fireplace in the main lounge set under one of the heaviest looking old oak beams we've seen is a wonderful place to warm up together after a crisp walk in the countryside. The superb farmhouse kitchen lets you all breakfast together in charming surroundings, while an extremely impressive panelled dining-room with intricate historic wood carvings allows you to put on veritable feasts in serious style!
With superb outdoor space for children to play and adults to relax, you'll love getting out into the gardens and extensive, gorgeous grounds. Just sauntering around the wooded and lawned areas is a pleasure in itself. A pond and a stream are among the features here, and with a fantastic patio to dine out on and a barbecue facility, too, those balmy summer evenings are well taken care of! The gravelled driveways and impressively realised topiary give a real sense of country house grandeur, too!
At the end of each day of discovery in our fascinating Unesco World Heritage Site, you'll retire to the really superb bedrooms, several with four-posters, and all nine crafted to be unique in character but uniformly comfortable. And there's plenty of the good stuff to tire you out when you stay in this beautiful location. You're in easy striking distance of the car ferry straight to bustling Bowness, while there are endless boating and water-sporting opportunities to avail yourselves of on Lake Windermere. Grisedale Forest offers exhilarating mountain-biking and orienteering trails and a challenging Go-Ape course, and Hawkshead village itself is the prettiest little place imaginable and crammed with enticing tea-rooms, quirky shops and connections to Beatrix Potter. Meanwhile, the walking here is unrivalled, with scenic Tarn Hows so close by, the shore paths by Lake Windermere, rugged Claife Heights, and all the great web of little footpaths weaving delightfully about you.
