A historic house in a World Heritage landscape! One of the finest country houses in the Lake District, Applethwaite Hall is a triumph of the Arts and Crafts movement, and this luxurious apartment is named after its designer, Thomas Muirhead. Stunning original features blend with the fruits of tasteful modernisation to produce a delightful retreat for our Lakelovers to relish. The superb garden grounds and outstanding views are the icing on the cake!
Your lower ground-floor apartment couldn't really be anywhere finer than this fabulous turn of the 20th Century property. Its architect is famous for the cricket pavilions at Old Trafford and The Oval, and you could certainly imagine donning the whites to stroll out onto the well-manicured lawns at Applethwaite Hall! The views stretch out decadently to the Langdale Pikes and it's rather nice to stretch out here in a similar fashion with a gin and tonic on a sunny afternoon. You have your own separate garden within the grander shared grounds, meaning your peace and privacy is assured. A gorgeous covered terrace with stylish rattan furniture lets you enjoy in comfort even if the summer rain is falling.
Our Lake District luxury self-catering apartments are all gold standard, and Muirhead At Applethwaite Hall is certainly no exception. The superbly equipped kitchen is presented in contemporary pale grey, and is full of all the accoutrements you need for a spot of holiday master-cheffing! Meanwhile, the charming lounge is a stylish place to unwind and share some quality time together around the feature fireplace, and you have a large screen 3D Smart TV to help you do so. Throughout the apartment, light and modern décor is accented with bold flourishes and rich colours. The Morris & Co wallpaper in the master bedroom is just perfect for this Arts and Crafts hideaway, and local artwork is apparent throughout, too. You'll certainly be aware of the loving attention to detail that the owners have lavished on Muirhead. Local guide books and maps are provided for your convenience, and to inspire your forays into our unforgettable landscape, and an incredibly useful drying cabinet is provided for when you return with wet gear. And indeed, there are endless opportunities to get those boots on and blow away those cobwebs on the rugged fells roundabout.
Another fine property of the Applethwaite Hall era can be found at Blackwell Arts and Crafts House by Windermere, and this is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to cultural attractions to be found in our newly accredited Unesco World Heritage Site. You're close to Brockhole Lake District Visitor Centre, where you'll find pointers to everything to see and do in the area.
