Fine quarters for four in captivating countryside! The elegant Lakeland hall of which The Mulberry is a part dates from the Arts and Crafts era, and Thomas Muirhead, its architect, also worked on the famous cricket pavilions at Old Trafford and The Oval. The Mulberry itself is a spacious contemporary apartment with superb views to the Langdale Pikes, while outside, stately lawns stretch out in front of you, leading your eyes to the mountains beyond. Luxury apartments in the Lake District don’t come much grander!
You're very pleasantly tucked away in quiet countryside behind Windermere village, and you'll love wandering Applethwaite Hall's pretty grounds and elegant lawns, where you may well encounter deer and a variety of other wildlife. Inside, the artistry of the Arts and Crafts period is acknowledged through a sympathetic renovation that has created a light and airy space for four Lakelovers to base their Lakeland adventures. All on one level and facing south-west, this is a place designed for relaxation. The lovely lounge area is a restful space tastefully decorated and offering a high level of comfort, and is open-plan to the dining area and stylish, modern, and extensively equipped kitchen. The lovely walnut wood dining table is perfectly positioned to take advantage of those fine views through the original stone-mullioned windows that provide a real feature at The Mulberry.
Thoughtful touches from the owners bring real homeliness to this excellent apartment. Walking guidebooks and maps are left for your use, as are a selection of DVD's and a Dry-Soon Airer has been provided to get that walking gear ready to use again as soon as you need it. The works of local artists contribute to the décor, and, in combination with the walking guides and the views, really encourage you to get out there and experience our lovely landscape for yourselves.
And the countryside round about you is indeed full of beauty and adventure. Discover the walk into the verdant Troutbeck Valley via Dodds Reservoir, delve down the many meandering footpaths around Heaning and Mislet, ascend Orrest Head at Windermere and marvel at the views, or wander by the water at Adelaide Hill and Millerground. You can bring your dog to The Mulberry to enjoy it all with you, too! Down at Bowness Bay, steamers regularly leave the pier to glide you along Lake Windermere to Lakeside with its aquarium and gorgeous little railway, or northwards to Ambleside and the Central Fells. You can hire your own boats locally, take a thrilling ride in 4 x 4 vehicles, go canoeing or mountain climbing, or hire mountain bikes to go deep into the Lake District hinterland. In fact, you have a secure bike store at your service here, too!
The Mulberry At Applethwaite Hall is a unique Lakelovers gem, and surely a place to return to regularly once you have discovered it for the first time!
