A cosy cottage fit for four to nest in! A perfectly located property, right at the heart of Grasmere village, yet beautifully unperturbed by the bustle and with its own secluded garden. Recently fully upgraded to exacting standards, Osprey Cottage is just a single minute’s stroll from the very centre of this jewel in South Lakeland’s crown. Described by Wordsworth as ‘the calmest, fairest spot of earth’, Grasmere vale glistens with all the poetry and green splendour to give you the most magical of Lakelovers holidays!
Osprey Cottage offers high-quality accommodation that hits precisely the right blend of style and comfort. Relaxing in the bright and spacious lounge area is a blissful experience, and here you have a companionable log-burning stove for those frosty winter evenings, as well as a large screen TV for movie favourites. The fantastic modern kitchen has a substantial central unit to help you prepare tasty holiday fare, and an equally substantial fridge-freezer to keep you well stocked. Oak flooring flows through into the dining area, where a country-style table and chairs let you enjoy those cosy evening meals or hearty pre-walk breakfasts together.
Meanwhile, the fine fabrics and soft, relaxing décor schemes of the bedrooms make for lovely places to unwind. The en-suite belonging to the ground-floor bedroom is a high-quality affair, where shabby chic meets contemporary flair, and with a classic free-standing bath-tub to soak tired limbs after a long day on the Lakeland fells. And the second bedroom, also with ensuite, enjoys enchanting views to the fells. Your cottage also benefits from a beautifully mature and secluded garden where you can relax on the patio on high-quality rattan furniture.
Grasmere is a walker's paradise, with waterside wanders aplenty, as well as higher level walks up to Helm Crag, known locally as the Lion And The Lamb, onto the beautiful Loughrigg Terrace, and along Greenhead Ghyll, where Wordsworth composed his epic poem 'Michael'. Quite a number of connections with the poet can be found in his chosen home village, including the must-see Wordsworth Museum at Dove Cottage. There are also an enticing array of tea-rooms lining the higgledy streets, none more prettily situated than Faeryland by Grasmere lake, which also has boats for hire. And for fine dining, you must try The Forest Side Michelin-starred restaurant just outside Grasmere, and the Jumble Room in the centre, one of our great faves!
Our luxury cottages in Grasmere are always highly sought-after given the romantic majesty of the surroundings, and in Osprey Cottage you have everything an ardent Lakelover could wish for!
