A spiral wooden staircase leads to bedroom 2 from the living room. The shaker style kitchen has a vaulted ceiling and everything you will need.
Bedroom 1: With oak beams and floor and sumptuous king-size sleigh bed, this room has a pitched roof and strategically placed roof light for stargazing and a rather inviting roll-top bath.
Bedroom 2: Approached via the spiral staircase, this is a quaint loft room with more stargazing potential, king-size sleigh bed and en-suite shower room, and miniature stable door down stone steps to the garden.
Bedroom 3: This lovely single room comes with French sleigh bed/day bed, and can also double as a great second sitting room.
Outside: A private drive with ample parking for 3, along with the beautiful garden.
The charming interior of your Lakeland home-from-home is full of original features and contemporary comfort. The shaker style country kitchen, thick oaken lintels, stunning wooden spiral staircase, free standing slipper baths and supremely comfortable sleigh beds combine with tasteful leather furnishings and high-end technology to offer you a seamlessly soothing experience.
Beyond the sturdy walls of your cottage, Coniston is an exceptionally pretty slate-built village sitting beside the lake of the same name. Nestled winningly beneath Coniston Old Man fell, this is a place to soak in the splendour of the natural surroundings. You'll certainly want to take a leisurely cruise on the Coniston Launch or the Gondola steamer and watch the reflected fells glide by in the still waters. But there are plenty of more active pleasures to seek out while you stay with us at Poppy Cottage, including sailing, canoeing and pony-trekking.
Donald Campbell famously undertook his speed record attempts on the lake, and the local brew in his honour, Coniston Bluebird Ale can be sampled in the many cosy inns dotted around the picturesque village. Artist, writer and philosopher John Ruskin is also closely associated with Coniston, and the Ruskin Museum and his house at Brantwood, with its tempting tea-room, are well worth visiting.
We love the tranquility of the setting and the peace of the idyllic cottage garden at Poppy Cottage, and the chance to ascend the enchanting spiral staircase and stargaze through the skylights in your wooden sleigh bed is just irresistible!
